Welcome to Fort Nelson, Bryan, Janis, Megyn & Conner!

If its one thing Fort Nelson is good at, it’s making new-comers feel welcome!  Join me as I sit down with the Stanleys as we get to know them and learn how we can best support them on this exciting new adventure!

Would you like to share a little about yourselves; what's your background,  what led you to the Triple G Campground?

Janis and I have been married for 28 years and have always worked together.   I have always been a farmer and worked in the oil patch and Janice was a farm wife, until the kids were little and then she stayed home with them.   We have always loved to camp.  This has always been a pipe dream of ours!   Never in a million years would we imagine that it would come true!

What was it about this community and this campground that made you say “this is the one”?

We have friends that moved to Fort Nelson a couple years ago that knew we had always dreamed of owning one.  When they found out it was for sale they called us so we came up to visit them and kind of looked into it but decided that it was too big adventure for the two of us at the time; but a year last spring, we started talking about it again with our daughter and her now fiancé who got on board right away.  So that was the decision to make it start happening.  It was a big family decision, We are hoping to make it a legacy so that it keeps getting passed down, just like a farm, one generation to the next.

This place already has a great reputation what are your plans?  Are you looking to keep things as they are or bring in some new ideas?

Things will mostly stay the same.  Like you said, a great reputation and we want to build on that, maybe a specialty night like wing night.  We plan to stay open year-round so maybe some Karaoke nights too this winter…but no big changes.  We love it as it is!

Will there be any renovations or updates or do you want to keep the rustic charm intact

The rustic Charm is what drew us in!  Its staying!  We love it!

Small towns thrive on strong connections.  How important is local support to your vision?

We want the locals to feel like they can come hang out anytime!  We are appreciative of any support but more importantly, want to give our support as well and become involved with community groups like the snowmobile club!

The previous owners built great relationships with the community are there any traditions or special events you plan to continue?

We plan to continue with the exceptional customer service and overall experience!  We love the idea of hosting Christmas parties and the many caravans that make the campground an annual stay.

What is the best way for the community to support you as you settle in?

I mean, we’re here, and we’re trying to do our best to iron out the kinks.  We’re hoping to be up and running as soon as possible and just ask for your patience.

What kind of experience do you hope guests and visitors have?

We want everyone to be greeted with smiling faces as they are welcomed into a stress-free, completely relaxed stay.

Are there any exciting new services or activities coming to the campground?

We are thinking that eventually it would be nice to add some campers and cabins to offer as accommodations.  Also a dog run/kennel and hopefully a horse coral.

What makes this campground unique compared to others that travelers will experience as they explore the famous Alaska Highway ?

Right of the bat, I’m going to say all of the amenities.  If you really wanted to, you could wash your car, wash your RV, fill your propane tank, go have supper, a beer, do some laundry, go for a shop, and have a hot shower!  Its pretty cool that this place is a one-stop-shop.  It also has such a stand out theme with the saloon & boardwalk.  It’s such a cool looking property.  And did I mention the food is amazing?
